20 Years of DIMs: A Regional Commitment to Research and Innovation

On Monday, June 29th, 2026, the Région Île-de-France will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Major Research and Innovation Domains (DIM) policy during a special event held at the Regional Headquarters in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine.

For the past twenty years, DIMs have played a key role in structuring and supporting scientific communities across the Paris region around strategic themes for research, innovation, and socio-economic development. By fostering collaborations between universities, research institutes, higher education institutions, technological platforms, and companies, DIMs have helped position Île-de-France as a leading scientific and innovation hub.

To mark this anniversary, the Région Île-de-France will bring together the scientific communities it has supported since the launch of the DIM initiative, as well as researchers and stakeholders involved in future DIM projects. This event will provide an opportunity to reflect on two decades of regional support for research, share experiences, and discuss future perspectives for scientific innovation in Île-de-France.

The program will feature roundtable discussions dedicated to the evolution of DIMs and their scientific and socio-economic impact, alongside a keynote lecture by Alain Aspect, winner of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics and professor at Institut d’Optique Graduate School – Université Paris-Saclay.

Participants will also have the opportunity to explore the DIM Village and poster session showcasing projects, infrastructures, and initiatives supported by the Region.
